The Voter Formation project: A Year in Review
Hey, y’all! Happy Friday. This will be our last blog post of the year, and, accordingly, we thought it was time to do a little reflection on all that VFP has accomplished this year.
Celebrated a birthday: VFP was officially formed on December 10, 2020 – we just turned one!*
*Birthday presents are accepted in the form of donations to our ActBlue and Real Housewives-themed gifs.
Ran a program: VFP came straight out of the gate talking to voters, running get-out-the-vote (GOTV) programs in local elections in Texas and in a statewide election in Virginia.
Reached voters: When we say we ran a program, we ran a program. In Texas, over 1.7 million voters engaged with our Spanish or English language video ads – and in Virginia, another 1.7 million did the same.
Talked to you: Whether through Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, or TikTok, VFP was able to engage with a whole lot of our friends and supporters: on Twitter alone, our content garnered over 200,000 individual impressions. For a brand new organization (especially one that tweets 30% in gifs), that’s a number we’re pretty excited about.
Published papers: The VFP team put out two incredible, comprehensive, and insightful white papers this year: our 2020 whitepaper and our 2021 research brief. We couldn’t be more proud of our team’s work, and if you haven’t checked them out yet, we encourage you to (the longer one is great if you need some time away from your family over the holidays – we don’t judge!).
Grew our team: VFP started out with just one full-time employee (shout-out to Micha) and, over the course of 2021, has grown to a team of nine brilliant collaborators. We’re seriously grateful for each and every one of them, and extremely excited to continue expanding our team in 2022.
Lastly, thank you all for being along for this ride with us – VFP wouldn’t be what it is without each and every one of you. We’re excited to continue sharing our journey with you, and to continue doing this extremely meaningful and impactful work in 2022 and beyond. We’re just getting started, and the best is yet to come.
Happy holidays, y’all! Stay safe, get some rest, and tell your loved ones how much they mean to you. We’ll see you in the new year.
